How do I generate my schedule?

After closing the dialog, give your surname's first 2 letters, select your department and semester, then click 'Generate Schedule'. The system will automatically create the best possible schedule based on available sections and your preferences.

Can I customize my generated schedule?

Yes! Before generating a schedule you can arrange global constraints in the Checkboxes menu. Also again bottom of the page you can arrange local constraints for each course. After generating a schedule, you can manually add or remove electives, switch sections, and adjust your preferences. All changes are saved automatically.

How do I add elective courses?

Your department may have multiple elective types (e.g., Free, Non-technical, Technical, Restricted, Non-departmental, Departmental, Elective). metuans currently displays categories correctly for more than 20 departments. After entering your department information in the top panel, you can see the elective types that are active for you using the “Add course” panel on the right side of the calendar screen. You can access more elective types by sliding the slider here. Checking Free and Non-departmental courses may take more time than others. If you think there are errors in some elective suggestions, please let us know.

Why I cannot see the building distances between my courses?

Building distances are available if courses are in consecutive hours. They have to be a location different than TBA (to be announced). Also, this option can be manually disabled by the user. You can enable this property with clicking the Clock icon in the right side of the pagination.

Yes, the schedule creation and GPA features are available for all undergraduate programs at ODTÜ.

Does this platform supports Master programs?

Yes, currently we have most of the master departments. However, in master's programs, the curriculum not being a valid thing. So, this is prevented us from adding the programs. You can manually add courses from the Add Course panel. If you encounter any errors, first try unchecking the checkboxes in the top panel. If you encounter a persistent issue, please report it to us at hi@metuans.com.

I do not know anything about electives?

Free: This is an elective type that allows you to take any course at the school. For some newly opened courses, you may need to explain the situation to your department's secretary. Your course should not be in your curriculum. - Non-technical: It is an elective type found in engineering departments and several other departments' curriculum. This course catalog is determined by the engineering faculty and is updated regularly. Although there are many courses on this list, your options are greatly reduced because most courses are not open to students from outside the department. For taking some courses, you need to attend course's lecture hours in first week. (e.g., Some language and sports courses.). Some Links: NTE List, PES Dept, MLD Dept - Restricted Elective: Elective courses determined by the department you are enrolled in, including courses outside your department. This varies from department to department. - Technical Elective: This is generally the list of elective courses specified by the department in engineering and science programs. - Non-departmental Elective: Science and many other departments uses this type as an Free Elective alternative. You can take courses from any department other than your own department. A department cannot offer both Free and Non-dept elective types. To reduce metuans computing power and get results quickly, non-tech courses are offered instead of free courses in some departments that not specifically mentioned in our scripting code. So, if the Free Elective in your curriculum sometimes you could not see this option in Add course panel. However, you can choose from among the non-dept courses. Additionally, if you can let us know which department you are in, we will update this information over time. - Departmental Elective: It is opened by your department. And it is not included in your curriculum. Since metuans cannot track all departments individually, it returns results by removing courses that are already in the curriculum from the courses opened in your department.

How many courses can I add in one term?
